Things I Wish I’d Said: 2014

Be more like me, he says. Be more objective.

The man talking *at* me leaves me reflective.

I lookup the word, just to see what it states.

Below is what Google search populates:

“impartial, unbiased, unprejudiced, non-partisan, disinterested, non-discriminatory, neutral, uninvolved, even-handed, equitable, fair, fair-minded, just, open-minded, dispassionate, detached, impersonal, unemotional, clinical”

Now maybe he has a point. I mean, being *all* feeling

Leaves little room for action or healing.

But at the same time who wants to be ‘uninvolved’?

That’s the whole reason human consciousness evolved.

And no one is neutral or unbiased or non-partisan.

And non-discriminatory? Only a charlatan

Would claim to be all these, while covertly biased.

I don’t want to call it, but methinks the dude liest.

So, no I’m not objective. Now I’m just angry

That anyone so lacking in awareness, quite frankly,

Tells me that caring is not de rigueur,

Without even displaying the intellectual rigor,

To understand a concept or how it’s imparted

Might leave one feeling less than wholehearted?

So, call me too emotional. Even call me crazy.

I’d rather be that than intellectually lazy.

And never *ever* tell anyone to ‘be more like me’.

Be less of a w*****. Long live idiosyncrasy.
